Julia Carpenter is a Marvel Comics superheroine who has taken on the mantle of Spider-Woman and Arachne. She was created by writer Tom DeFalco and artist Steve Ditko, and made her first appearance in Secret Wars #6 in 1984.
Julia Carpenter was a government agent who was granted her powers through an experiment in which she was exposed to a specially designed suit that gave her the ability to stick to walls and project psionic webs. She was recruited by the government to become a member of the superhero team, the Avengers.
Later, she adopted the name "Arachne" and joined the West Coast Avengers. She eventually became a member of the short-lived team called Force Works. After the team disbanded, Julia retired from superheroics for a time, but later returned to take on the Spider-Woman identity.
Julia has also been a member of the Thunderbolts and the Secret Avengers. She has displayed a wide range of powers, including the ability to fly, superhuman strength, agility, and reflexes, as well as the ability to create psionic webs, psychic blasts, and force fields.
Julia Carpenter is a strong, independent woman who has overcome many obstacles in her life, including being a single mother. She is a skilled fighter and a loyal friend to her fellow heroes, and has played an important role in many of Marvel's major events over the years.
